Your Voice

Your Voice
The Youth Trust is not just an organization – we’re a movement driven by the resilience of young minds. Our focus on youth mental health is underpinned by a core belief:
“decisions about young people should be made by young people.”
Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they drive change today. Their unique perspectives and innovative ideas help us shape services and create a world where people can get the support they need for their mental health.
Together, we’re rewriting the narrative surrounding mental health, championing the voices of young individuals, and creating a world where every young mind can thrive. Together, let’s pave the way for a brighter, mentally healthier future.
How your voice is heard.
To be more involved young people from 11-25 can join the Youth Trust Taskforce which meets at least once a month (you can join meetings online if away) to discuss all sorts of topics and meet other people from outside the charity like our MPs, NHS, Office of Police and Crime Commissioner or other charities who want to hear younger views. Apply here ( lead to form)
The taskforce has access to a new video camera to make short films to back up campaigns or just to say short messages for our social media. Members also take part in social action events like beach cleans or help raise funds for our charity.
The charity hosts an annual Youth Voice Event which created a six point plan in 2024 and has led to the Together for Children Conference hosted by the local authority and Youth providers from the across the Island to discuss the issues raised by Young Islanders.
If you are aged 11 to 24, we warmly invite you to join the youth task force at the Isle of Wight Youth Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to boost your confidence, build self-esteem, and even strengthen your CV.
The taskforce meets at the youth trust in Newport at least one weekday evening a month. You will discuss key issues affecting young islanders like yourself and explore creative ways to bring about positive change.
