Parents & Carers

We are here to help!
At the Isle of Wight Youth Trust we understand how hard it can be for parents, grandparents or carers when they see their child or young person struggling with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
1 in 6 children and young people now have a probable mental health condition – that’s potentially 2 in every classroom of 30 … and approximately 5000 of the children and young people aged 5-25 living on the Island at this moment.
It is important to know that you are not alone in going through this – we can help.
As a charity, our services are completely free of charge.
What support do we offer?
Depending on the service you access, staff will have different qualifications, training, and experience but all have been recruited for their skills and expertise.
Following your inquiry for support it will be discussed at our weekly Triage meeting by the team at Youth Trust who will decide which of our services is the best way forward.
When the Youth Trust team have made their decisions, a member of the team will be in contact with the next steps.
Information, advice and guidance
Information, Advice and Guidance helps individuals get the right information, personalised advice, and practical guidance to empower you or your young people to make informed decisions regarding their mental health.
Signposting to a more appropriate service
Sometimes our service is not correct for everyone. In these situations we can help individuals identify and connect with the most suitable mental health resources and support services for them and ensure that you receive the tailored care for your specific needs.
Workshops for the young person or parent/career
We offer a wide range of workshops both therapeutic and non-therapeutic. They are a supportive space for both young people and parent/carers to learn together about mental health, develop coping strategies
One-to-One support
Tailored to your unique needs we can provide one-to-one support whether that be clinical 1-1 therapy or a trusted adult, we aim to provide a safe space for young people to discuss their challenges and work towards their wellbeing goals.
