Employment & Skills

Our employment services are there to make sure every person has the opportunity to reach their potential. The team are there to empower every person walking through the door with the tools to succeed.
Employment Services
Our Youth Employment Coordinators play a pivotal role in
connecting young individuals with meaningful employment,
education and training opportunities, empowering all service
users to build skills, gain experience, and achieve personal and
professional growth. This position involves designing,
implementing, and managing programs that support young
people in their journey towards career success. Within this
service, collaborating with local businesses, schools, community organisations, and government agencies is carried out to develop pathways to employment and ensure young people have the tools they need to succeed.
How Can We Help?
Career Action Planning
Building a SMART road map to empower people to succeed. Every person’s action plan is unique document that can evolve and adapt based on what a person really wants and needs. Each plan aims to highlight both career and learning goals and will provide a service user with a clear road map that explains how to
achieve.
CV Guidance & Ownership
Rather than simply typing a CV to be used online, we teach all service users how to build a unique and powerful CV that they can take full ownership of and continue to adapt and change throughout their careers. Much of this process starts with empowering people to see themselves and identify the myriad of skills that they have that often go overlooked or unmentioned.
Effective Job Searching
With the goals and tools in place, participants are taught how to search for career opportunities in a productive and positive way that caters to their abilities. From online searching through to networking and speculative applications, effective job searching is key in an area with a unique labour market.
Interview Skills
From personal presentation, route planning and preparing for interviews, all the way through to expertly navigating a STAR model interview, all service users will gain confidence that they are supported and fully prepared at every stage of the recruitment process.
Raising Resilience & Self Esteem
Job searching and coping with rejection can have a massively negative impact on an individual. By raising self-esteem and increasing resilience, service users can keep moving forwards and see the routes to work as a process. This can have wider benefits of embedding a better work ethic and helping people to recognise their own self-worth.
In Work Support
Moving into work can be challenging and daunting for some. It can also be a challenge for employers. All service participants retain the user of the service even when they have moved back into work. This can help those who are struggling and aims to reduce young people returning to unemployment prematurely.
Direct Employment Partnership
Working directly with Island employers, opportunities can be identified and shared directly with young people. Employers can utilise the expertise of the team and in doing so, evolve their approach to attracting and retaining amazing and talented young people.
