Announcing Bite the Wight!
The Isle of Wight Youth Trust is delighted to announce the launch of Bite the Wight - an event celebrating food, drink and hospitality on the Island.
Eileen Monks OBE, Director of the Youth Trust, explained:
“BITE THE WIGHT” is about fundraising, but it’s also about coming together as a community, enjoying food with friends and family, and taking pride in something that the Island does brilliantly.”
The full menu for the event is still under wraps, but participating pubs and restaurants will each dedicate a ‘Trust Table’ with all proceeds for the day going to the Youth Trust.
Leading venues from across the Island have already signed up, including: The Buddle, The Bugle (Yarmouth), Lugleys, The Pig & Whistle and The Village Inn. Many more are expected to be announced over the coming weeks, along with details of weird, wonderful and wacky ways to share a bite to eat and support a great cause.
“We are very fortunate at the Trust that we receive incredibly generous support from Bestival, The Royal Hotel and a number of private donors who each give tens of thousands of pounds every year to support the work of the Youth Trust” explained Eileen.
“We are also very grateful for the support we receive from our media partner, The County Press who have committed to a significant three year funding programme. Bite the Wight will be a wonderful opportunity for other businesses, and the wider community to get involved and make a real contribution to what we are doing.”
Visitors to Newport will also see details of the event on The Agency’s building on Coppins Bridge. Managing Director Tara Adsett said
“we are very proud to be supporting the Youth Trust with this wonderful initiative. It will raise funds for the Trust and awareness for the great work they do. It will also give local pubs, restaurants and food suppliers the chance to show the rest of the country why the Isle of Wight is becoming recognised as a real food destination.”
